Caring for your jewellery

It is perfectly normal for jewellery to tarnish over time. You can keep your jewellery in the best condition by using the polishing cloths that come with your jewellery.

The white microfibre cloth can be used daily to rub over the jewellery and remove any dirt or finger marks.

The red cloth is impregnated with jeweller’s rouge, a traditional polishing material used by jewellery makers to achieve a mirror shine, and can be used periodically to remove any tarnish and revive the shine. Again, simply rub the jewellery with the cloth.

If you have purchased a piece of jewellery that has oxidised (blackened) detail, it is recommended that the rouge cloth is used lightly and only when absolutely necessary. The oxidised area should be avoided with the rouge cloth to prevent the accidental removal of this detail.

Also, it is advised that you avoid rubbing gemstones with the rouge cloth as it is mildly abrasive and could damage softer stones.

The white microfibre cloth is machine washable. Do not wash the red cloth as this will remove the rouge polishing compound.

In addition to using the polishing cloths, your jewellery can be kept in tip top condition by avoiding contact with chlorinated water, perfumes and hairspray. Additional polishing cloths are available.
